![]() ![]() One of the stops was Bryce Canyon., A subsidiary of Union Pacific Railroad, Utah Parks Company purchased the property where the lodge sits. The railroad's vision of the site's potential for tourism culminated in the creation of the "Grand Circle Tour", a tour that traveled to several parks in one trip. , Union Pacific Railroad served Bryce Canyon well as it grew to national park status. Just know there - more.Bryce Canyon Lodge. Be aware of some being given "favors" with their pay while others pay their full housing/food costs. (Turkey, Taiwan, Russia, etc.) You will be held to a higher standard whereas foreigners can get away with anything and will not be reprimanded. Lastly, if you're an American, you will be treated differently than the foreigners they fly in from various countries. The views may be wonderful but the people sure do make it hard to stand! It's easy work that doesn't require an education or experience but that also means it draws in a certain quality of people! Be aware of what you're getting into! For $8.25 an hour, it's a lot of h*** to pay for. The entire employee pool is somewhere between 100-150 if I recall correctly and everyone knows everyone's business, it's a VERY invasive environment.Īlthough some of the cooks were awesome and worked to make food for those people with food allergies or religious restrictions, the food makes everyone sick, usually on a weekly basis. (I've heard Bryce is specifically horrific but who is to say.) The national parks just recycle the same undesirable employees season after season. Yes, there are a few wonderful people to meet here and there but the vast majority of workers are heavy drinkers, promiscuous, low-moral individuals who don't care about their work or how they treat other people. They lost 20 people in a week when I was there because of how management treated people and the quality of people you had to work with. The views here can't be beat but the culture, attitude and morale here are horrific. The money is good but the unfairness and schedule abuse is not worth the money or time. ![]() I've worked multiple national parks, never left early or been fired, but this manager was able to push me to quit in 3 weeks. The dinging room manager is a passive aggressive bully upset that he is no longer making server money. This place will not respect you as a good server and does not value their employees. When I asked if I did something wrong my manager said no he just needed some one to work BLs and picked me randomly. As a result I was taken off the dinner schedule and had 5 breakfast lunch shifts the next week. I worked 4 doubles in a row and was 5 minutes late to a breakfast shift on my Friday that I worked breakfast and dinner. Beware of the dining room manager tatus who will make promises about ur schedule then change it dirastiically without telling you. The food is medicocare, the money is good but the management is terrible. I worked here for almost a month as a server in the dining room and could not have been more disappointed. I would recommend it however maybe next time I would work in FOH to make some more money. You also get an incentive for working in hk by a reduced rent- $82 per month. ![]() At $11 an hour most folks in hk got a second job in the evenings. Work starts at 7:45am usually ends anywhere from 12pm to 3pm. People had issues with the fact of too little hours. There was not much urgency because we always got the rooms done by 3 at the latest. If you are GF or Vegan or even vegetarian you will have more limited options and I recommend bringing some healthy snacks if you cant eat what's being offered. Could be anything from pasta salad to meatloaf or potstickers and a ramen noodle soup. Typical lunch was hot dogs and french fries with some side veggies. When I first arrived more in the middle of the summer they were pretty consistent about putting out yogurt, cottage cheese, and granola/fresh fruit in the salad bar. Typical breakfast is scrambled eggs, sausage, Overall the Employee Dining Room (EDR) for was buffet style daily for each meal. My concerns were healthy food options and positive work environment. I had my reservations on coming to work here after reading some scary reviews. ![]()
